How long our sparklers burn
Three minutes for the long ones, two for the short ones. Wind takes some of that away.
Short answer
A 36 inch sparkler burns for about 3 minutes, a 28 inch for about 2½, and a 20 inch for about 2. The 10 inch runs about 45 seconds. All of them are smokeless steel-wire sparklers, and outdoor wind shortens every figure.
By length
- 36 inch: about 3 minutes
- 28 inch: about 2½ minutes
- 20 inch: about 2 minutes
- 10 inch: about 45 seconds
Plan around the shortest one in the line
A tunnel of sixty guests takes a minute or more to light from end to end. With 20 inch sparklers, the first ones lit have used up half their burn before the couple even starts walking.
That is the real case for the 36 inch. Three minutes covers a slow light-up, a walk, a stop for the kiss, and the second pass your photographer will ask for.
Wind takes time off
Those figures are for still air. At a lakeside or open-field venue a breeze burns them down faster, so plan on the low side and light in waves from several points at once.
Smoke and indoor use
All four wedding lengths are smokeless, with steel wire cores. None of them are rated for indoor use, so keep the send-off outside.
