What Rockwall venues tend to be like
Almost everything out here is built to face the water, so the send-off happens outdoors in wind coming off the lake. Wind matters more here than length does. A 36 inch sparkler in a gust burns down faster than the box suggests, and your photographer loses the shot to smoke drifting across the line.
36 inch, overwhelmingly. Lake venues have room for a long tunnel and the light off the water pays it back.
Check the Rockwall County burn ban before an outdoor send-off
Rockwall sits in Rockwall County. In Texas the county commissioners court issues burn bans under Local Government Code §352.081, not the city and not your venue. During a dry spell most of the state sits under one.
Whether a ban covers hand-held sparklers comes down to the wording of that county's order, and the orders differ. We will not tell you your send-off is fine when the answer varies by jurisdiction. Two minutes of checking settles it.
- Look up Rockwall County on the Texas A&M Forest Service burn ban map.
- If there is an active ban, read the order or call the county. Ask about hand-held sparklers specifically, not "fireworks".
- Tell your venue what you found. A coordinator who has not checked will thank you.

Violating a county burn ban is a Class C misdemeanour. This is general information about how the orders work, not legal advice about your event.
Ask your venue two questions
Before you pick a length, ask your Rockwall coordinator whether sparklers are permitted and whether there is a maximum. Those two answers decide the order. Venues vary widely: some allow 36 inch without comment, some cap at 20, some say no.
Tell us which venue you are using and we will tell you what we have seen there. If we do not know, we will say so instead of guessing.

Will my Rockwall venue allow sparklers?
Ask your coordinator before you order, and ask two things. Whether sparklers are permitted at all, and whether there is a maximum length. A venue that caps at 20 inches has chosen your product for you. If the answer is no outdoors as well as in, better to find that out now than on the day.
How many will I need?
Roughly one per guest who lines up, plus about ten per cent for the ones that will not catch. The calculator does the arithmetic.
