What it costs you per bottle

The case price is not the number. The number is what it costs per presentation.

Short answer

Divide the case price by the number of sparklers to get your cost per presentation, then compare that against the margin on a single bottle. In this category the sparkler is almost always a rounding error against the pour it supports.

Work it out from your own numbers

  • Case price ÷ sparklers per case = cost per presentation
  • Cost per presentation ÷ margin on one bottle = the share of one bottle it costs you
  • Presentations per week × 52 = your annual spend on the category

The comparison that matters

A bottle sparkler competes against skipping the presentation, not against a cheaper sparkler. The presentation exists to move a table from one bottle to a better bottle, or from one to two.

A case that lasts a month and costs less than one premium bottle has already paid for itself. What to watch is whether you ever run dry, because that is where the real cost sits.

Where people get it wrong

Buying the largest case for the lowest unit price, then discovering it is eleven months of stock filling a dry store. Buy the size that matches your cadence. You can order again, and we are forty minutes away.
